On Corruption

(From the editorial of http://www.thanalonlane.com/ and http://www.thanalonline.com/)

In the editorials of this ezine, I have several times criticized the Hon.
Prime Minister of India on account of his not disclosing the truths
regarding the Nuclear treaty with the US, ASEAN treaty etc. I am sure I have
been totally justified in doing so. Our country is besieged by a new work of
officers, intellectuals and strategists from the US and from our own
country; it is this network that decide as to who should be minister, as to
what should be our prime consideration in evolving policies etc. Neera Radia
and the like have proved this fact beyond an iota of doubt. I am sure I a
speaking against the topmost powers that reign India. I see with fear and
alarm that the three graft incidents of G- Spectrum, Common Wealth Games
and Adarsh Flat have been a heavy blow on my nation. A sum of 1, 76, 000
crores lost to our country just because some interests that wanted a man
like Mr. Raja as the minister concerned. The wave space for the transmission
of events and entertainments were sold out to several incompetent tenderers
even with out completing the formalities of tender; still Raja is merely
questioned, not under duress, but under the most extra ordinary
circumstances of pleasure and pomp. The first estimate of the much trumpeted
C"Wealth Games was 2000 crores, while the total outlay now stands some where
near 80, 000 crores under the "most efficient " leadership of Suresh
Khelmadi ji. The Adarsh flats were meant for the widows of the Kargil
martyrs. But who got them is no secret.
The Speculation business in the field of agriculture led to the unwarranted
price rise for vegetables such as garlic, onion and tomato; but Dr. Man
Mohan Singh is convinced that it is the due to the fault of the IBM
Computers employed to safeguard various petro spheres in agriculture and
therefore Hon. Prime Minister is inclined to purchase better giant computers
from the Micro Soft to safe guard the petro spheres. So, the hike of prices
was a competition between IBM and Microsoft , and the latter is going to get
a few million rupees on account vegetable price rise in Indi a.
We are reminded of the three rogues that cheated the Brahmin saint to
believe that his goat was a dog. Prime Minister of India are trying to
convert his own country men to buffoons or ignoramuses.
I lament to myself: Shame upon us that we have a Prime Minister lying to his
own people and a central ruling party controlled by a citizen of Italy.
In this context, let us have introspection. Is the faculty of response in
Indians diminishing to an all-time low? When the iron ores of the country
are being robbed of by usurpers in the guise of rulers and their henchmen,
people are remaining calm and unresponsive; is it not shameful upon the
so-called intelligentsia that they remain silent on the whole development?
Patrick Suskind's Character Grenoulle who had created the scent of anything
and everything was killed and eaten piecemeal by the onlookers who walked
shyly away from the self. Have we reached to this level of self-deceit?
This country we live in to day is to remain for the future also. In
Pakistan, large areas of land are being sold to the wealthier countries; the
alarming example has been the sale of Cholistan desert land to Saudi Arabia.
India is selling mines and other resources that should have been preserved
for the posterity.
With a Prime Minister who is constrained to say twice a day that he would
face the Public Accounts Committee on account of grafts is not a matter of
pride. In stead of appearing before the PAC, couldn't he advise his
colleagues to be ready for a JPC Inquiry, so that at least the pride of the
Parliament is protected? Parliament is relegated to the back ground while
Committees with American specialists are geared to decide to function for
our country.
The history of our civilization has a few lessons, which the Prime Minister
and the Finance Minister of our country very well know, but never want to
learn. The major lesson is that whenever, the country is in danger of being
fully destroyed, the people would rise to the occasion and save it. That the
lesson has delayed to be imparted into practice need not be taken as a cause
of alarm or fear.
